Devon gets reading!

Devon gets Reading!

Read to your child every day, even if you have just 10 minutes before bed time.  That's the message from Roger Kirk, former headteacher and co-ordinator of Devon Gets Reading, part of the Government's National Year of Reading campaign.  Evidence has shown that reading often to your baby or young child, or encouraging your older child to pick up a book regularly, will improve their speaking and writing skills, helping them get ahead in the classroom.

This summer the Devon Children’s Trust will be holding the second annual Young People's Achievement Awards at County Hall in Exeter.

This fantastic event will celebrate the achievements of young people aged 13-19 from across the county, and recognise their hard work and dedication in contributing to

We want you to tell us about young people who have worked hard to improve their lives, develop their skills and challenge expectations, and young people who given their time and energy to make a difference in their school or community and inspire others.

New Youth Parliament announced

THE NEW UK Youth Parliament members for Devon have been announced.

From the 20,000 votes cast, twelve young people were elected - three members of UK Youth Parliament, three deputies to support them and six members of the Young Peoples Shadow Executive.
